*NIJ Provost Admonishes New Intakes*
The Provost of the Nigeria’s premier monotechnic, the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Ogba-Ikeja, Lagos, Mr. Gbenga Adefaye yesterday charged the newly admitted students to always strive to conform to the school rules and regulation.
He made this declaration at the institution’s matriculation ceremony for the 2022/2023 academic session.
He said, “as a reminder, attendance at lectures is mandatory. Each student must attain 70 percent attendance to qualify to attend examinations. Continuous assessment through class work and assignments are obligatory”.
He also added that the institution demands a decent outlook from students in their mode of dressing as “infraction against these are seriously frowned at”.
He further assured them of getting a quality knowledge through a conducive learning environment and standard equipment and facilities which they could leverage on, and help them excel in no distant time in their chosen careers.
“Here, we equip you to go into the world as full professionals cum content producers in our new age of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). He concluded.
It would be recalled that matriculation is an important ceremony of the academic institution which serves as the formal process of enrollment to become a recognized member, as student, of academic community.
Having met all the academic and administrative requirements, a total of 229 students were offered admission and matriculated to purse a career in Mass Communication and Journalism.
One hundred and twelve (112) were admitted into the National Diploma (ND), fifty eight (58) into Higher National Diploma (HND) and fifty nine (59) into Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) programmes.
