The Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Ogba, Lagos was in another celebration mood last week when one of its products, Emmanuel Dairo was announced winner of the 2023 Young Laifers Creative Award.
The award had nominees from several agencies across the country.
Dairo said that he was paired with copywriter, Rotimi Afini (both from Noah’s Ark) on November 8, and their brief was for Access Bank – where they were tasked for three hours to connect Gen Z youths’ back to their roots.
Consequently, Dairo came out victorious following his impressive performances.
In 2022, the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) Alumnus having completed his National Diploma (ND) in 2018 and Higher National Diploma (HND) in 2021, was listed among the top twenty five under -25 entrepreneurs organised by SME 100 Africa.
According to the organisers, the award is aimed at promoting excellence in brand strategy development as well as encourage craftsmanship in young practitioners.
The organisation believes that the culture of genuine creativity in its raw unadulterated form starts from solving problems with simple ideas before identifying how that solution will be executed with marketing and advertising techniques.
It also said the competition tasks young creatives paired up as Copywriters and Art Directors per team to solve real life product and brand communication challenges with creative campaigns and ideas that can be executed.
The award is poised for young practitioners 30 years of age and under, working within a recognised advertising organisation or in schools and colleges of advertising – and winners are awarded with prizes ranging from monetary gifts and scholarships.
