The Forensic Guards Nigeria (FGN) in collaboration with Forensic Ambassadors Africa has honoured the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Ogba-Ikeja, Lagos with award of excellence as the “Best Forensic Institution of the Year”.
The Executive Secretary, Ambassador Abraham Kwaghfan in an event organised by the Southwest of the Association, presented the award on behalf of the National Chairman, Ambassador AIG. Shehu Sani Gwarzo (Rtd) to the institution “in special recognition of its outstanding performance in forensic services”
Amb. Kwaghfan said the institution has a lot of responsibilities and that was why FGN deemed it necessary to partner with the institution in order to fill the vacuum created by the Nigerian system.
He charged Forensic Ambassadors to use their resources in championing the cause of the Association and desist from operating out of their jurisdiction.
” You must know your boundaries. When to act, and when to relax ” he advised.
Ambassador Ayodeji Atinsola, a histopathologist in his contribution, advised the body to make arrangement with medical laboratory and if possible coopt as FGN members students of medical laboratory. He said for any result by Forensic Ambassadors to be effective, it must be certified by the Council of medical laboratory.
FGN is an investigative body of professionals formed four years ago but became fully operational in 2021 with branches spread across the federation.
Amongst the motives behind its formation were: to defend the voiceless and ensure that the innocent are not misjudged or punished wrongly, by ensuring forensic investigations are conducted; working with security agencies to combat crimes.
Apart from the institutional award, other Ambassadorial award recipients were Mr. Babatunde Aina and Mr Stanley Ibeakaeze.
Mr. Tolulope Ojemuyiwa, Public Relations Officer received the award on behalf of the institution.
