The Governing Council of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (Nigeria’s Premier Monotechnic), Lagos has approved the appointment of Dr. Adeboye Ola as the new Deputy Provost of the Institution.
In a statement issued by the Registrar of the Institution, Mrs. Patricia Kalesanwo, it said Dr. Ola’s appointment would take effect from Friday March 1, 2024.
“This is to inform you that the Governing Council at its meeting of 19th of February, 2024 has approved the appointment of Dr. Adeboye Ola as the Deputy Provost of our Institution, NIJ with effect from the 1st of March 2024. We wish him a successful tenure “, the statement read.
The Deputy Provost designate is to succeed Dr. Dele Omojuyigbe whose tenure of two terms ends on the 29th of February, 2024.
Dr. Ola joined the Institution as an Instructor in November 2004 and rose through the ranks to become the Head of Department, General Studies in 2019.
Dr. Ola, a prolific writer and photo journalist, once worked with the Vanguard Media Ltd and the defunct National Concord Press Ltd.
He studied and graduated in 1984 from the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ife, Osun State where he Dramatic Arts, and Post-Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication (NIJ) in 1989. Professional Diploma in Public Relations from British Education Examination Council (BEEC) in 1994. M.Sc Mass Communication at National Open University, Nigeria (NOUN) in 2010.
Still having a penchant for education, Dr. Ola bagged his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Communication Studies from the prestigious university, Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, Lagos State in 2021.
