Juan George
Vice President Adeboye OLA, Ph.D, is the Head of Department, General Studies. Photographer and master trainer, he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dramatic Arts and a Master of Science degree in Mass Communication. He also holds a British Education Examinations Council’s (BEEC) Professional Diploma in Public Relations and a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism. He started his journalism career at the Vanguard Media Ltd in 1988 as a Reporter/photographer and later worked at the defunct Sunday Concord as a writer/ photojournalist for six years between 1989 and 1994 He worked as the Corporate Affairs Manager with Rathma Holdings, Ikeja, from 1994- 1998 from where he went into professional photography until he joined NIJ in 2004. He had professional trainings at the World Press Photo Institute in Amsterdam as a trainer of trainer and curriculum developer in photojournalism in 2005. He was at the Poynter Media Institute, St. Petersburg, Florida in the United States (2006) for a specialist workshop on Effective Visual Reporting of the Community Dr. Ola has conducted photography and photojournalism training programmes for the media and multinational companies including Punch Newspapers, Chevron, and Total. He was a visiting photojournalism lecturer at the Redeemers University between 2007 and 2009. He is a member, African Council for Communication Education and Ikeja Lions Club. He has since 2006 been a Member of Jury, Wole Soyinka Investigative Award (WSIRA). His area of research is in visual communication in the Nigerian Media.
